I went back to Taiwan during The summer of 2022. After my online french class, which ends at midnight, I fall back into my thoughts. I lie on the rooftop of my home, a suburban apartment complex atop a small hill that sits halfway up the mountain, contemplating what has happened and what is to come. Everything goes by fast. Covid hit. I went away from college. People come and go in life. All things on earth seem ephemeral while the stars far far away in the distance seem to me the only beacons of eternity.
Stars die in the end, but not before I do. Contemplating my existence and future in the face of the stars dwarfs whatever grave concern I might have. Whether I make it or not, the stars will be there no matter what.
